The High Springs Emporium Rock Shop is the oldest and largest rock shop in North Florida’s Springs Heartland, a region that has more freshwater springs than anywhere else on the planet. With prices to fit all budgets, the Rock Shop has something for everyone whether you are a new or experienced collector or looking for a special gift.
Beginnings
Over 20 years ago, Sharron Britton—who had been collecting and studying rocks since she was a child—put a few of her rocks in a little shop in High Springs. Within a year, the stones became the center of that store.
A fire destroyed the original High Springs Emporium building and its contents in July 2005. Sharron found a new home for the store in a small yellow house at the edge of a pine grove with beautiful old trees and camellias. The High Springs Emporium reopened in its new location in September 2005 and continued under Sharron’s ownership until early 2023.
New Owners
New owners Max and Helene Mpoyi bought the store upon Sharron’s retirement in February 2023. With new ownership came a new name: the High Springs Emporium Rock Shop. The store has always been known locally as “the rock shop.”
Originally from the Republic of Congo, Max and Helene built a thriving business, Malachite & Gems of Africa, from their home near Rochester, New York. They are wholesalers specializing in malachite and shattuckite and they travel throughout the United States to sell imported minerals at rock and gem shows. Max and Helene are refreshing the Rock Shop’s inventory by bringing new items never before available in High Springs.
A Special Energy
Each of the Rock Shop’s four rooms is filled with color and light dancing among one of the largest collections of rocks, minerals and crystals that most people will ever see outside of a museum. These offerings of Mother Earth come from all over the world and are complemented by a wide selection of jewelry and gifts. Everything is displayed to emphasize beauty and harmony, so you may feel a special energy when you enter the store.

Walk the Labyrinth
When you visit, we invite you to spend some quiet time in meditation as you walk the labyrinth in the pine grove behind the shop. Dedicated to the health of the Floridan aquifer—the layer of limestone beneath our feet that holds groundwater that feeds our springs and provides our drinking water—the labyrinth is made of crystals, chert and agatized coral gathered from local waterways.
